So your aim was to AVOID service by not answering the door......

hhhmmmppppp!!!  Won't happen!!  One of my younger male servers told me this story.  He had knocked on a door fully expecting to serve this defendent as her car was in her drive way.  "Hmmm, no answer?  OK I'll try again later," he says to himself.  He jots down the license plate of FODGE.  The server's wife was in the car and she wanted to go to the dollar store located a mile down the road.  They went in and did their shopping and had just finished putting their bags in the car when the server looked up and saw the plate FODGE parked across from his.  Just then a lady came out of the super market next to the Dollar Store and opened the door of the FODGE car.  My server being so very polite went up to her and said, "Excuse me, I'm not following you, but I was just at your house trying to delivery this paper but no one answered."  The lady took the paper and got in her car and slammed the door.  So much for reciprocation of respect.  Blame it on the messenger!!  SERVED!!

So you thought you could lie to me...........

At the address given our server was told that the defendant she was looking for "used" to be this gal's roommate.  She also said that she kicked her out 2 weeks ago and she hopes to never see her again.  Hmmmmm....  We put in a call to our client and sure enough the very same car that's in this driveway is registered to "our" defendant.  We are back to door knocking but she will NOT open the door or acknowledge us in any way.  Our attempts continue for a few weeks to no avail.  She knows we are on to her.  Our server returns the paper to me and I go check with her next door neighbor.  Yep, Sheila lives next door but is hardly ever seen outside.  (We know why!)  So I wait until I'm working a late night shift and I park my car a couple of doors down near a nightclub.  I walk to the front of her yard but out side of her fence and I shine my Redline Flashlight into her front window.  Just slowly back and forth, shining my light on the walls of her living room and back out again.  No one opens the door.  I walk up to the porch and shine my light onto another wall of the living room.  I've got to get this gal to open her front door so there is nothing between her or I so I can legally serve her.  Pretty soon I see a face peeking ever so slowly from the side of the window.  I shake the paper in my hand where she can see it and say, "You're served!".  I "pretend" to leave the porch and the front door flies open and she's screaming something indecipherable. It was then that I turned around and actually dropped the papers at her feet while telling her, "you are drop served and it is a legal service".  I walked to my car, jumped in and turned around to drive back past her house.  And there she was, a grown woman, cursing, jumping up and down in the street while tearing her papers into little tiny pieces. I couldn't help myself, I rolled the window down and yelled, "You're served"!      And home I went...night shift over!      Remember!  Quality Process Serving  Medford, Oregon 97501      ALWAYS going "over and above" to get the job done!  My cell:  541-840-3991

So you think moving and job hopping will deter me.......

Ricky was to be served in Medford, Or. but the current tenant said "they" purchased this home 3 years ago.  The plates in the driveway were given to our client but they did not match our defendant.  Ahhhh he works at a local car lot.  I called there and found out he had quit months ago to go work at another automobile dealership.  I drove there only to find out he no longer worked there either.  Client did a PO Conversion and found another address for him.......no luck.  A female neighbor living in another apt. said that she knew each of the four tenants and Ricky was not one of them.  This paper sat in the HOLD file awaiting more information when I did my weekly check through the file.  I put his name into the DexKnows.com on line and to my surprise there was my clients name with an address and a phone number.  I called court at 4:59 p.m. on a Friday and our dedicated small claim manager answered the phone.  I asked if this case was still open as it was almost 9 months old and she told me she had "just" started the dismissal proceeding.  She said it would take a few days to finalize so go try the new address.  I drove straight over to the new address and all the blinds were closed.  This apt. looked vacant from the outside.  There were old newspapers on the porch and spider webs were hanging from the rafters.  I decided to check with a neighbor before knocking on his door.  I again played dumb and asked the neighbor if Ricky lived here.  She told me that there was no Ricky here and she didn't know anyone nearby with that name.   I said, "Thank you," and proceeded to knock on "Ricky's" door.  To my surprise, a male opened the door.  The air conditioner was running, every light in the house was on as well as the stereo.  I said, "Hi, I have some documents for Ricky and handed them towards him.  He took them and said, "Thanks!"  Just like he knew I'd be by.  What I learned that day was that people are not necessarily hiding but because of the bad economy they are having to change jobs or move around into less expensive housing.  I thank my lucky stars that I have a job to go to everyday.  And I know that in one little instant my life can change forever.  Know your job, go "over and above", and be kind!!

So you think you can kick me off your property......

welllll, technically you can, and I will leave immediately, but since I already have your paper in my hand, I will "drop serve" it before I leave your property.  You're served!   And if I feel that you are really threatening I will get in my car, make sure I'm headed out of your drive way and then "drop serve" the paper while telling you it's legal service.  This happens VERY seldom as most people treat me the way I treat them, with respect and without judgment.

So you thought you could hide....

I have served “this” particular gentleman before. He's very evasive but owns a business or two in Medford, Oregon so it's easy to "serve" him as all I have to do is "office serve" to one of his employee's at one of his yogurt shops.
He had sold his business's or lost them, I'm not sure which, when I received another legal document for him. My instruction sheet from my client tells me that he's living at 3902 Cascadia Hills Rd, in Eagle Point, Or. I know from past serves that this address is his fathers home and not his. It also says that he's currently working at "Ye Olde Shoppe" in Medford. One of my female servers knows him from her High School days so she calls him and chats him up. She finds out that he now has a wife and baby and has settled down. My server tells him that we again have legal documents for him. He tells his old friend that he doesn't want to be served and she tells him that she'll have to come to his place of business. He tells her that he's not working at "Ye Olde Shoppe" anymore. So, as the owner of QPS (Quality Process Serving), I take the paper and get to work figuring out how I'm going to serve this guy. I drive by his POE listed on our instruction sheet. I can see that this is the building that his dad owned a manufacturing business at. I'm thinking that dad might still own the building. I check my assessors office web site and sure enough his daddy still owns the building. I decide to find out who is running the new business located here. I go to the Oregon Corporation web site and enter the business name, "Ye Olde Shoppe" into the name field. It says that Chantilly Probst owns this business. I put her name into the DexKnow.com site and it gives me her home address. I drive by that address and take some plate numbers and verify them with cars parked at "Ye Olde Shoppe". Bingo! My guys significant other is possibly the owner of the business now located at his dad's old place of business. This makes sense. She owns the business but HE is helping her without benefit of a pay check or the possibility of getting his wages garnished. What a way to abuse the system almost legally. I wonder why he's hiding under her skirts? Wonder aside, I walk in and a male who fits the description that my server gave me is just about to walk out of the office. I say, “Hi, are you Joshua?” He says, “yes”.  I say, “I have some legal documents for you.” I hand them to him and he's too stunned to refuse. I say, “Thank you”, and out I walk. Boy that felt great!!! Served!! Job done! My client never knew how far “over and above” I went to get their paper served. But I knew. It's my job and I take it seriously. So do my servers.

So you want to be a process server?

Vicci: Hi, I have some documents for John Razenski
Defendant:  Sorry, I don't know any Razenski's.
Little girl on porch, 4 years old:  My last name is Razenski.
Vicci:  Smiling....here ya go John.
John tonguetied:  Thank you.

Just one of many funny encounters Quality Process Serving has had in Jackson County, Oregon.
